I posted same issue when weather was warm, and got good info. Here's the deal. No matter what I do I cannot get the distributor finger to align anywhere near the distributor cap # one electrode when the timing marks are aligned and the # one piston is near TDC. The distributor finger is opposite the # one electrode. The engine has NOT been apart. It was running well when I parked it due to a very slightly leaking head gasket. I borrowed the distributor for a while, but have tried two replacements and both do the same thing. Anyone else ever have this issue. I find it highly unlikely the valve timing has changed since it last ran.
