Transmission's don't cost that much' shopping around you are able to find transmission's with 90 to 120,000 miles on them used at a used transmission shop or an online place like goldwing, I think that's the place. I haven't checked their web site out looking for anything but diligently looking for a transmission I'm sure you'll score one for next to nothing, then you have labor in removing your old one and replacing it with another if you don't plan on doing it yourself. Labor would be 1000bucks shipping your current tran's to be rebuilt by C-Myles in Colorado is another 1000 bucks, so 2000 for a brand new transmission. Getting an indie to pull the motor and separate the tran's ship it then reinstall it, I'd only guess its a 1000 for the job perhaps it would be cheaper.
In the mean time if you want to wait for a bit before the work is done, find one of them storage unit places that has outside storage 30$ a month. Park it in a spot throw a tarp over it and get back to it when its more convenient
