Long post here.....I've got two SPG's, a gray 88 and a black 89. I recently bought the 88 as a donor car, but after driving it a few days, I'm wondering if my 89 should be the donor car. Here's where they stand:
88:
- interior needs complete overhaul but the seats are in great shape
- odometer is broken, but the engine feels like it's got more life in it
- needs a wheel bearing and front axle (parts included with purchase)
- needs CV boots
- turbo is FAST
- weather strips and doors are nicely sealed
- front left fender needs to be replaced from rust over the wheel
- exhaust system is solid
- radio antenna stuck up, and missing rear speakers
89:
- new belts, alternator regulator, intake bushings, plugs, wires, shock absorbers (never want to do that again), radio antenna, muffler, catalytic converter, heater core hoses, and valve cover gasket
- bad front seats, but the rest of the interior is great
- driver door damaged, have new door but need new SPG trip parts
- turbo works but cuts out before hitting the red, hard to diagnose
I've put a lot of work into the 89 but this 88, bad interior and all, is making me wonder. In the end, only one car can stay. I can swap the good parts of one to the other or vice versa.
Thoughts????
