and don't forget to apply some dielectric grease onto the rubber nipples.

honestly you can't really do much to this device. Sometimes you can prolong its life with replacing the main capacitor (the blue cube thing under the black plastic cover; but read below), but very often it turns out that it's just an old horse: the coils are bad, the transistors are burnt. You know what they do with old horses.
And it's the epoxy on the PCB which doesn't allow you to do anything there and which will make you destroy many chips and pcb traces while trying to dig into scrambling thru this naughty thing.
