But even still, the turbo is most likely working correctly and its building the oem 7psi only prob. Is with no check valve its sending the psi as fast as it can through the vacuum line to the valve cover to the PVC pipe back to the turbo inlet, crazy A' he drove this way for 225,000 miles. I can only guess how fast that vacuum line can bleed off boost and I'd bet it would transfer 3psi at maximum boost of the motor leaving 4 for the pistons and with such low psi in question the gaskets wouldn't be harmed, granted the the motor isn't going under vacuum at boost but oh well its been fine for 225,000 miles :()
I did the same thing when I bought my spg, I was a new owner not knowing there was even suppose to be a check valve. Running the motor same as CBS. Wasn't till I started modding did I blow the gasket I went from oem 7 psi to 15 which blew the gasket, then ended at 20psi
