Thanks, Vern and Justin.
Maybe so, but I've had the '91 (actually manufactured in Oct '90, according to the VIN plate) since 2006 or so, when it had only c. 92K mi on the odometer, and until the last several months, it always seemed quite OK in terms of engine power and economy, and consistently got c. 320 (highway) miles on a tank of gas. I certainly never messed with AMM as long as I've owned it, and it's never been in anybody else's shop for engine work since then. I don't have the maintenance records from before, but what possible reason could there be for some previous owner (I'm the third, as I understand) changing the AMM and the ECU?
In any case, Bentley indicates that while FI 2.4 AMM cabling evidently differs in the specific key-on 12V terminals from the 2.4.2 ECU, there's no mention that the 4 seconds after key-off, self-cleaning heat burst is any different between the ECUs, and it's not happening at all, as far as I can tell. Does that suggest a bad ECU, and if so, what to do?
