Fuel mixture, LH 2.2 with old pump

I have a puzzling problem. My '86 900 non-turbo 16v has had this problem for as long as I can remember. I've chased vacuum leaks until there were none, swapped in several air-mass-meters, changed out ECUs, replaced fuel filters, changed injectors, changed the FPR, checked the NTC resistance, and installed a narrowband air/fuel gauge to monitor the oxy-sensor output.
Basically the only thing I haven't changed is the pump, which likely is original to the car.
The symptoms: lean-out on acceleration, unless I go real easy or use high revs. When I suddenly hit the gas, the air/fuel gauge goes off the lean end of the spectrum and the car bogs down like a chainsaw with a badly-adjusted carburetor. After a half-second of bogging, it takes off and the oxygen sensor sets it into closed loop, swinging rapidly between lean and rich as it's supposed to. Also if I'm climbing a hill - even a smaller one - I have to keep the revs high (like 3000) and slow down or it will likewise bog down, with the air/fuel gauge reading lean off the scale. Usually it tries to keep it in closed-loop until the hill gets steep enough and then it drops off the lean end.
So what do you guys think? The only thing I can think of is that I have a fuel pressure problem (and I already replaced the regulator and filter so it would have to be the pump). Or is it some other thing I forgot to check?
