1) Good - more options
2) Manual will work, from a C900 drivers, passenger, or a 9000 drivers, passenger. If it's from passenger side, but being installed on a drivers side, you'll have to repair the hole for the seatback release (C900) or from the Lumbar Adjust (9000); Then you'll have to cut a slit/hole for your seatback release (or does the '87 have the seat release on the side of the lower seat cushion?). Power vs. manual: A power seat will have a standard length skirt on the "inner side", but will have a short 1/2 length skirt on the outside, due to the way the outer plastic cover & power controls are installed on the "outer side". BUT - A power passenger skin can be used on a manual drivers seat (or vise-versa), if you don't mind a little exposed side hardware next to the center console. Zip Ties are your friend. Looks fine, in my opinion.
3) You should avoid skins from a convertible, unless you use a passengers skin on the drivers side (or vise-versa), because the seat-back release lever is LOWER on a convertible seat than it is on a hatchback, so you'ld have to patch a hole on the outer bolster of the seatback. I just put seat skins into my '91 900 TC SE, so I have a patch on the outside in that car. It doesn't look as bad as it sounds. The photo shows what my '90 TC looked like with a 9000 passengers seat skin from passenger side installed onto my drivers side C900. The blemish 1/2 way up the drivers seatback is where it was repaired.
4) Crossover DOES work, but won't be perfect. I've done it a few times, and with the ever-fewer seat skin availability I'll probably have to do it a few more times. As you can see, there are a lot of variables unless you exchange an apple for an apple. And there are more variables and solutions I have not mentioned, too. Hope this helps. Vern
