Oh also, make sure you got the right check valve. The black one is for return line. Now, they do both fit into either hole in the fuel pump, but the white one is for fuel going out and the black one is for fuel coming back in. The black one always breaks...
I think they had a check valve on the return line because of rollovers. If you buy a replacement black one, it won't have the check valve in it. You'll have to swap them over. Be careful. The innards of the black check valve are really easy to break. If you break the innards while attempting to swap them, it's not a problem. The car will be a little less safe in a rollover if the fuel return line is ruptured. Most cars don't have this return check valve at all.
I think you can also put the innards of a black (return) check valve into a white (pressure) check valve, thereby changing it. But I'm not 100% sure. These Walbro pumps are a little annoying, but there are only 2 problems they can have (pump failure, check valve breaking), and you've probably just had them both so you won't again for a long time.
