AC works now but engine runs hot - what to test now?

I replaced fuse #25 and the second fan now works, and the AC blows cold again. But now the engine runs hot when the AC is running, not only in stop-go traffic but even on the road. The temp gauge goes up to about 75-80% of max and won't go down much even when I'm at cruising speed on level ground. It will run at normal temp once I turn the AC off (not fun in this Virginia heat wave).

The engine coolant level is full.

What's odd about this is that previously when the AC was on, the engine would run cooler, with the gauge almost always below the mid-point. In fact, it ran cooler in traffic with the AC on than with it off.

Your expert advice is much appreciated.
