I am just going to throw this out there:
While doing the fuel pump swap in my SPG, I was SERIOUSLY tempted to replace the banjo fittings on the fuel filter with GM or Ford style quick disconnects instead. You can buy right angle ones for 5/16" plastic fuel line at any auto parts store, then find a similar size fuel filter to go in place of the Saab one. I think one from a '90s Ranger would be pretty close, but I didn't measure.
The only reason I didn't do this myself is that rusted banjos just aren't a problem around here and the future time savings of quick disconnects would not have offset the time requirement of the swap, but in your situation, faced with an actual problem, I would DEFINITELY consider this move.
