1993 900 Comm. Ed. I just installed a new ABS accumulator and now the fluid in the brake reservoir is so full of tiny air bubbles it looks like milk. Is the cure to let the air separate out overnight, then try bleeding the brakes?
Full sequence of events:
- Removed calipers
- Drained all brake lines (gravity only)
- Removed fluid from reservoir (turkey baster)
- Rebuilt front and rear calipers
- Flushed new fluid through all lines, THEN...
- Installed four new hoses (body to calipers)
- Bled air from all brakes
- Road test. Brakes are great but ABS and brake fluid lights come on.
- Garage test. ABS pump comes on after 1 brake pedal application.
(Previous two items indicate failing ABS accumulator.)
- Installed new accumulator (per Brake Bomb success link below)
- Turned key to RUN. ABS pump ran 60 seconds.
- Reservoir fluid looked good (no air).
- Manually bled front pass side caliper with assistant.
- Checked reservoir fluid - milky!
