Yep. I buried one of these: See link at bottom.
in the headliner of my '85 SPG for this purpose. It's powered by the map light circuit, and the USB plug is zip tied to the rear view mirror arm so I can plug in my VIRB camera (like a gopro) right there and ensure it's always powered. It doesn't get used all that often, but so far so good. :)
(There are other/cheaper/simplier ways of doing this, but I liked the universality of a USB port up there... I figured everything these days can be powered or charged via USB. :)
