Motor mounts on a 1992 c900 Posted by StoicBlue87 [Email] (#1829) [Profile/Gallery] (more from StoicBlue87) on Fri, 6 Apr 2018 11:13:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've begun some major rebuilding on my 1992 900S hatchback revolving around a forthcoming rebuilt manual transmission.
When I pulled the lump, I quickly noticed the front motor mount (rubber inside a steel collar bolted against the transmission front) was showing signs of failure. So...no big deal..kind of expected. I'll get a replacement.
But aren't hydraulic mounts standard at all three spots on a '92? The rubber front mount is not original?
My records for this car don't indicate any mucking around with the mounts and changing them.
I'm still reading through these archives and trying to figure out my options or a strategy for all of the motor mounts.
For the front mount, is the stock replacement best or should I try the solid-mount option? This is a simple commuter car and isn't a performance-oriented vehicle. I'll trade longevity for a little car vibration at idle. But...just for a little vibration.
I have not noticed any kinds of bumping or knocking or similar symptoms that would suggest bad motor mounts before I pulled the engine.
Opinions, anyone?
Thanks.
