Best tire size for 7X16 with 40 offset Posted by Brandon K [Email] (#2382) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Brandon K) on Sun, 8 Jul 2018 11:30:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My friend is giving me back my 91 900T that I gave him 6 years ago. It has been sitting for the last 2 years because he did not have the funds to keep her going. I am planning on restoring her to her former glory!
The first thing it needs is road worthy tire. Looking at the options for 195X15 is just not going to cut it, there is just nothing in ther performance category that with suffice. Based on the limited wheel options, I think I am going to pick up some Raceline 16X7 with a 40 offset. The ones I am looking at are less the 20lbs.
The car has intrax spring (don’t know if they have saged) and has not had the rear axel relocated. What size tires seem to work best in this situation? I want the speedometer to remain decently accurate, ZERO rubbing and get the best grip I can out of this bitch.
After she is road worthy, I will be taking her in to have the trans refreshed and a limited slip diff installed along with a head gasket at a minimum. Not sure if it will need a head rebuilt or for the bottom end to be touched. The head gasket was on its way out when I gave it to him 6 years ago and was never repaird.
Supringly, it fired right up after sitting for 2 years. One of the lifters did not pump up, but I will try to flush it and see what happens. Gary at Swedish Dynamics was optometrist & through I may be able to get away with just doing a head gasket, that would be nice.
I am really looking forward to this! The car has ALL of Swedish Dynamics kit and was a monster.
To anybody that replies, thank you for responding to my dead horse thread.
