May have had same issue with the old passenger side shaft as it came clean out of the driver cup when the motor mount failed but the tripod was destroyed and it's the same length as the replacement one. I have an 87 with serious rust issues, guess I'll dig into that one and take a look at that shaft. The wife will probably lock me out the house when I do that.
This is a "rescue car" that was sorely neglected on so many levels. But the body is sound with NO rust at all so once all is said and done should almost be a new car.
