Put a new shifting coupler in it. $30.00 and an hour's work. They don't have to be falling apart to be bad. Swelling from years of oil exposure, weather exposure, etc. will change their shape enough to alter shifting location. I was notchy going into reverse and fifth on my '94 vert. After fiddling with shifter adjustment, reverse pull up lever adjustment, etc., I replaced the rubber shifter coupler. The one I replaced was original and looked fine, but I had no other ideas and it was an inexpensive, "roll of the dice" to change it out. Replaced it and all problems are solved. Just because those couplers look good, doesn't mean they are....especially if yours is the original with 200K on the clock. Good luck! Cheers, Bob
