Hello,
Trying to be hopeful for you. Did you check the inner drivers and outer cv joints? I've had Jak Stoll chips destroy a few outer cv's over the years. I had one that the car jumped 10 feet sideways, while I was powering thru a curve, and then kept going. Must have been the cv cage cracking. It got me home but fell apart when I tried to go to work the next morning.
Another to look at might be the crank pully. It could be eating into the front timing cover, that's pretty noisy and if it was seperating that might give you a nice burning rubber smell. Let us know what you find or any other questions that arise. Good Luck, Bernie
