The pinhole I had was leaking gas at about the same rate as gas has a low viscosity.. I put a big plastic tub under the car, like you use to mix small batches of concrete, and the tank emptied itself fairly quickly. I then put the gas in five gallon gas jugs, but it was no fun. The tank is plastic on the 9-5 and it looked like a stone kicked up and made the hole. There were a couple of other chips in the tank that were not leaking and I patched those also. I was able to remove the fuel pump under the back seat to allow the tank to dry out. And then I put some sealant in the inside of the tank also. There were no scrape marks so a stone seemed like the only logical explanation. It could be the plastic becomes more brittle with time. I am not sure about the material your tank is made from. I once had a 1979 900 with a metal tank that developed a drip due to rust along the seam by the left rear wheel. I was able to get a new tank at that time so I didn’t try sealing it, but I would try the sealant now even in a metal tank. There are also places that apply some kind of coating on the inside of gas tanks for classic cars if it becomes necessary. The 1979 900 had a drain plug that made draining the tank easier, but they may have eliminated that in later years. It’s easy to see the bottom of the tank from the back of the car to see if it has a drain plug.
