My car is too narrow?

I think I've mentioned this on here before. I think my car is too narrow at the windshield. I wonder if it got hit or something at some point, or if the tooling at the Valmet plant was worn by 1990 and turning out funny shaped bodies.

The hood is too wide for the car, and the windshield seems too wide as well. I think the guy installing the windshield even cracked it trying to get it to fit in, and the gasket has a pronounced gap. The lower dash "knee bolster" is the tightest fit I have ever seen in a 900, and barely fits.

Maybe time to do something about it while I've got the dash out.
