FYI on a new scam that I just encountered. I am in the process of selling my 9-5 locally on Craigslist. Craigslist is an expected pain since the scammers are pretty quick to pounce, but obvious at least. And they go away after a couple of days. However, this is a new one. The person was interested, wanted to make an appointment to see the car, blah blah blah. But then added that they wanted to see the inspection report. When I texted I didn’t know what that was, he sent me a link to carscheckup.com. Looking at the website it clicked that this was a total scam to get my credit card info, and purchase something useless. Then I decided to toy with the person a bit. I texted to show up, and if they liked the car I would buy it. They complained about having to take off work, … you understand. Then I simply said no, which was too polite on my part.

You can use whois.com to find out some details about the web site.
