84 Factory manual says....
1. vacuum leak or...
2. sticky air flow sensor plate or....
3. sticky fuel distributor plunger....
I think it may be a combination of #2 and #3 above...especially if you have never cleaned them. Requires disconnecting fuel distributor and unmounting it from plastic air cleaner housing....you may have some sticky substance on top corner of air flow sensor plate which appears from time to time between cleaning....this "stuff" is also all over the plate lever arm and over the fuel distributor control plunger....
