first, bleed air out. get Bentley manual.
1) cruising at speed in top gear a few minutes, ac off, gage should stay at 1/2 or below. if not, replace t-stat, .... flush, ... new rad.
2) at idle, short the thermoswitch wires together. Fan comes on. If not, yank timer relay, jump terms 30 and 87, toss relay. If just 1 fan comes on, see townsendimports.com about saab bulletin on wiring changes so both come on. ->documents ->cooling system
healthy sys, fan(s) only on with ac, or heavy traffic, or long idle period. Then comes on at 2/3 to 3/4 green on gage. Any higher suggests a problem
lower temp fan switch not needed, unless running a plugged rad.
