In normal driving, Sean, I use my vac/boost gauge to set the throttle and the tach to shift, so I keep the Beastie out of the yellow entirely in normal driving. It's a sedate pace off of traffic lights, but I get good city mileage and expect the clutch to last longer!
YOU control where the needle goes, by how hard you press the pedal. You can adapt your "normal driving" acceleration to keep it out of the yellow entirely, if you choose. I rarely mash the pedal down -- just don't need to. It's sort of an emergency situation (like maximum effort braking) if I do. I consider max boost to be a sort of emergency reserve of power; it's not something I routinely tap into. (It =IS= fun, though!!!)
