Agree almost completely ... The rubber bushes will get very hard and add to harshness. I also found that my old oem boges would tend to lock up on sharp bumps. Testing new and old off car, sudden compressive load resulted in the new shock compressing, and the old got stiff. This was the big boom I'd get if a sharp bump was hit.
For toshi, koni's are the best bet ... some find boges too soft, and some find bilstein's too hard, Koni's can be adjusted to cover both tastes.
