Head gasket question (again!) Posted by Alanb [Email] (#722) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Alanb) on Wed, 18 Oct 2000 11:09:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I’m getting air in my cooling system yet compression seems to be fine. Can a cylinder head gasket have gone (resulting in bubbling water) even if the compression is fine? I really don't want to remove it unless I'm certain.
If the gasket has gone, what might have caused it? Could the fact that I incorrectly refilled the cooling system have caused it (i.e. did not turn the heater to hot when refilling)? Other alternatives are the boost which I recently increased to about 20 psi and a faulty engine breather non-return valve. I know it is difficult to speculate like this but any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Alan
