I have a saab 1982 900 gli. Of recent months i have been blowing fuel pump fuses. It ran fine after that but the other day, when i sprayed wd40 on the distibutor cap, the car would not start. I noticed that i coud not hear the fuel pump going - this made no sense to me at all. So after lightly tapping the top of the fuel pump it started and ran for about 10 mins then stopped. All weekend it wouldn't start until i gave it a lite tap. On monday it started without having to tap it, but when i drove to work i turned off car and restarted again and it was fine, but on the 4th start i couldn't hear the fule pump. It will probably start again after i give it a rest. How on earth can a spray of wd40 make this happen - is it related to the blowing of Fuel pump fuses. The pump makes the normal hissing sound without any weird noises. Can someone help.
