'dropped a valve' can mean anything from a holed piston to a burnt valve.
For sure the head needs to come off, unknown WHY it happened. If it was just a burnt valve (it happens to exhaust valves, a piece of carbon could have hung it up/open and burned the valve with exhaust gases, for example) the fix is relatively easy; new valve(s) as necessary, check valve seat widths, lap as necessary, probably put in new valve stem seals, and reinstall the beast. Replace the timing chain/tensioner and you're back in biz.
However, the lack of a running engine mitigates against market price...the car is probably worth $500.
