My $.02 about Hakkapelita Nokians

I'd hate to alienate or piss anyone off here, because I get a lot of excellent advice here, but I have to interject my opinion here, and it is a fairly deep-rooted and strong one, that goes a little like this: The Hakkapelitas FUCKING SUCK! (excuse the colorful metaphors). I had them on my old 87 900T (they came with it, they were 100 miles old). I saved them when the engine blew up because they still had great tread on them, and now my 76 beetle sports them (they look cool). I have tried probably 10 or 12 different brands of snow tires on my Saabs, and I have to say that the Hakka's were the worst of the bunch, and, believe it or not, the best (by FAR) were some Dunlops that I paid $100 each for. On the saab I have now, I have some Knock-off versions of those dunlops ($35 each on sale), and they are pretty good. If you live in a wet-winter environment, the Hakka's will be right up your alley. But if you live in an environment where Old Man Winter takes his job seriously, don't waste your money. I'll gladly go outside and take pictures with my digital camera of the tread pattern on the snows I just bought. I don't screw around in the winter either. If I wake up at 3:30 AM, look outside, and there's 2 1/2-3 FEET of snow on the ground (no-one in sight but the snowplows and Santa Claus) , I dig the car out and go for a drive. Those "Ka-ka pelitas" wouldn't even get me out of my driveway, SERIOUSLY. The dunlops took me down the road, off the road, through a 2ft. ditch, into a corn field (I could hardly tell where the road was, I was driving by memory), and back on the road where the snow finally plowed up over the car and stopped me dead. If you would like a pic of my preffered tread pattern, let me know either here, or via email, and I'll take it for you immediately.
