My 83 900 with APC sounds like it has a similar problem. It has only base boost with the air lines attached to the solenoid but goes to the red zone when the solenoid is replaced with a vacumn "T". Solenoid seems to let air pass when energized, but this is my first Saab and I don't know but there may be a partial restriction from gunk, oil vapors or a stray migrating waterfowl in the solenoid valve. The valve does make a clicking sound at 1/2 second intervals at times when idling. The system also does not produce full boost when the solenoid is energized with battery voltage. I'll try your fix. Thanks for the advice.
