On my '95, there is a thin long bolt that fits up into the tranny. My mech said it is used to align the synchro. I looked at it several times when I was looking for the fill hole, but luckily did not touch.
like others have said there should be a description in the manual, but you may want to run by a Saab shop if in doubt on your car.
