well, it will drip coolant onto the SRS computer Posted by bryan [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: what's the worst that could happen?, josh p, Wed, 23 Jan 2002 00:20:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
which is located right below the heater core. John's previous info was correct for his car (1991) , 1992 and up will have airbags and the computer is located underneath the core. there was a recall on this, do a BB search on the recall, i *think* the recall number is 791 or 792.
Your core could very well be covered under this recall. If you don't already, start forming a good relationship with a dealer. Get all your info together and you should be able to, if they don't offer, kinda pressure your dealer into getting it done for free. Don't let them do their cheap and easy fix, which entails putting a plastic pan similar to a TV dinner tray over the SRS computer. Because it is safety related, Saab has been pretty good about taking care of these, don't really know though lately since GM is minding the cash register. Later style 9K's are a lot easier to do heater cores on, but it's still a fair piece of work, so getting it done by someone else hope that helps!
