It dont matter who makes it ... Its How they make it.
It wasn't that many years ago that I seen Saab freeze plugs rusting from the inside out and the motors only had less than 50,000 miles. The Saab 2.1L motor in the 91 - 900 NON turbo head gasket issue. 80 - 120K like clockwork the head gasket will blow in the same location. The block's machined surface is left damaged to one degree or another around all coolant passages. The damage is called "pitting" Its a form of errosion caused by Ph level. In fact I have another 2.1 900 setting in the lot now wanting a head gasket along with a list 3 pages long. The one I did last week had such severe damage in the location I mention that I had to perform a technique I developed in 1/98. I drop the piston to the bottom of the stroke, prep the area and heat the block in damaged area with a welding torch and stitch a bead of brass across the damage. The next morning I hand work the brass with a file. I just saved someone some big bucks. Never had a failure.
The next one I do ..... im going to document it and send it to Nines "US Saab Club" I may QuickTime it at my technical site.
BTW If you have worked on machines as long as I have, you will learn ....All automotive fluids are not created equal.
