I'm sooo stupid :)

I finally finished replacing my FR wheel bearing/hub on my '94 9k CSE. The new bearing fought and fought to go in then finally slipped in like I had applied KY to it or something :) In the bargin I also replaced the outer tie rod end after it got ruined when I loosened it to try to get at the hub better and couldn't get the lock nut back on the tie rod end spindle. After cutting the old nut off the threads on the shaft were completely trashed. New tie rod went in without any fuss at all - the only easy part of the job.
Now as to why I'm sooo stupid: On the post-repair test drive there was a horrible metallic scraping from the brake at that corner. After I got it home and it cooled down I pulled the caliper to find that I had installed the outboard pad *backwards*! Nothing like backing plate on rotor... :( Fortunately my test drive was brief and the rotor isn't too badly scared. With that little detail rectified the car drives 1000% better now. I figure that I really need to do the steering rack bushings to get rid of the large dead spot on center, but otherwise the steering sharpness is like new and the ride no longer has a vibration that I'd been chasing for months.
End of ramble - time to sleep.
