A few things can cause a brake to drag.
As Pigeon says, it could be the slide pins hanging up. The caliper 'floats' around the rotor, but if it doesn't slide well, one pad will hang up on the rotor. The solution to this is to clean and grease the caliper slide pins.
However, it could also be the piston hanging up. When you take your foot off the brake and the brake pressure drops, the force of the rotor on the pads should push them back a little. But if there is binding in the brake piston, it won't retract without more force than the rotor provides, and the brakes drag. When they drag, the piston (and caliper) heats up, which causes more binding.
Binding in the piston is usually due to dirt trapped in the piston, or corrosion in the piston bore. Both can be traced back to not changing brake fluid regularly. If the piston is hanging up, you have two solutions - either rebuild the piston, or replace the caliper. You can buy a rebuild kit for about $20, and rebuild the piston. I usually just cheap and buy a rebuilt caliper at my local autoparts store. I think I paid around $75 last fall for a 9000 front caliper. This is a few more bucks, but you just swap out the parts and you're done (after bleeding the system, of course)
If you want to try a cheap fix, pull the caliper off just like you were going to change brake pads, and push the piston in, then use the brake pedal to push it out. Essentially, move the piston back and forth and see if that clears (read - sands down) the binding point. It may work, or the problem may still be there.
