We had been a VW family (aside from a 68 96 two stroke in '72) for many years (my last was a new 91 Corrado), and I even sold VW's for a while. When my son was going to go off to college, he went out on his own (he usually brought me car shopping) and bought an '86 9000 turbo. I was a little miffed, but didn't say anything. I figured he would get a very expensive lesson in car repairs. I waited and waited, but it never happened. The more I looked at and drove his car the more I liked it. So I went out and bought an '88 900 Convertible and it's been Saabs ever since. I did help my daughter buy a 900S though. My son recently suffered a relapse, he has a VR6 Jetta and sells VW's in Chicago.
