Speedo Transducer - Problem Solved !!!!

A while back I started a thread concerning the situation where my speedo quit working and, in turn, the car ran like crap due to no speed signal to the management system. Well, I got it fixed and thought I'd post the specifics.
According to Service Bulletin 10/96-0720 this complaint in '95-'96 MY 9Ks (SN ending S1000001 to S1038095 and T1000001 to T1030400) is caused by a worn speedo drive gear. Correction is to replace original gear (white in colour) with PN 87-48-311 which is black in colour. The original gear did show wear particularly on two adjacent teeth. Its dimensions where 3.5 in. in length with the actual gear dia. being .802 in. New gear is 3.55 in, in length, with a dia. being .831 in. Additionally, new gear design has much beefier teeth.
The cost of this gear is $10.05 CDN (Budd's Saturn Saab Isuzu in Toronto) or $9.35 USD (Just Saab in Cincinnati). I ordered one from the first as there was only one (yep, just 1) in Canada (7-10 day delivery and counting)and then had my dad pick one up from his dealer in Cincinnati (overnight). And I won't get into the uglies of getting a $10 car part up to Canada from the US in a hurry. Anyway, hope this helps anybody else who is in this boat or thinks they may be headed that way. The car had 166K kms on it so it does take a bit to wear the gear but when it goes, its quick.
