There are two issues with TCS - see which one affects you-
1- Some folks just don't like TCS, simply because they don't want the car taking that capability away. In this case, you can always install the TCS OFF switch, and switch off the TCS every time you get into the car, and spin tires to your heart's content.

2- There is a perception that cars with TCS have miserable reliablity, and you see them dead on the side of the road every mile or so. This is plainly wrong. Yes, some problems in the TCS can cause the dreaded Limp Home mode. This can usually be addressed by keeping the connectors clean and the vacuum valve fresh and happy. But most TCS-equipped cars run just fine with no TCS issues.
If a car is having TCS Limp Home problems, a TCS OFF switch WILL NOT help. Limp home occurs when the TCS box detects a sensor problem. The TCS OFF switch ONLY turns off the TCS function, but the error detection is still there. You can turn TCS OFF and still have a limp home problem.

Paul - if you're interested in the car, don't let TCS scare you. Look through the maintenance records of the car. If the car has been in the shop five times in the last year for TCS problems, leave the car alone. If it hasn't been showing TCS problems, don't assume they'll suddenly show up when you own it.

If you don't have the maintenance records for the car, then TCS is the least of your worries.

But don't assume that TCS automatically means a disaster on 4 wheels. Yeesh!

Hope this helps.
