Hi there.
The actuator and switch have EXACTLY the same form factor and possibly electrical wiring (definitly plug-match).
You can simply replace them, then go to the locking-ECU and splice the input harness to the output harness, and the door will lock.
Now, you might be asking, what do I use to trigger it?!
The el-cheapo remote locking unit from JC Whitney (about $40) works great, been using it for a year and I cannot imagine how I'd do without it.
You have some decisions to make:
1) If your d-side door key switch still works, AND you want to preserve that function, adding remote locking will be tricky. (You can glue an actuator to the switch, and using a small pice of metal shaped like an "H" you can tie the two plungers together in parallel. I did this to ease restoration in case my remote-locking system failed: frankly, it was crafty, but a waste of effort.)
2) If your d-side key switch is dead (or the locking cylinder is broken) then toss the switch out, replace with an actuator, get yourself the remote locking, and plug it's "trunk" relay's output into your alarm, and you'll never fumble for a key again.
It's up to you, it took a day not knowing what I was doing, but with any study and prep, you could cut it down to 3 hours. By the way, the actuators and switches from my 86 900 were identical, so I'm thinking your in the market for the actuator from the pass. doors of any 86-93 900, or any 9000. That should improve the odds.
Best of luck.
Ben
