Ari is mostly correct in the advice that he gave; however, please let me add a couple of things. Noise and heat can be the products produced as the energy of motion is disipated when applying the brakes. Pad material can cause noise. Usually this is pretty evident as soon as the pads bed in, but I've had some pads, usually with a high metallic content, make noise much later on. They were not apparently glazed or anything else and despite sanding a new surface on the pads, they still squeaked. The only thing I could figure was that as the material cured due to heat, the composition of the material harden or something that create a noise. I just replaced the pads with a different brand with a bit less metallic content and was fine.
Something else I've had problems with is the effects of both dry, dusty conditions over a period of time and the effects of salt air again with no rain for a period of time. I assume that the particles of dust and salt work their way into the pad surface and cause noise. I have temporary luck with this by going out and just jamming hard on the brakes and it will go away for a few days. If it rains more often, haven't had the problem.
Anyway, just a couple of things to consider.
