I changed out the starter yesterday and I guess I pulled out the wire for the oil pressure sensor by mistake. Not knowing where it went I then proceeded to connect it to a blank post on the starter (!!) because I failed to notice the blank post on the pressure sensor (they are, after all, only 6 inches apart).
So...I just reconnected the wire to the pressure sensor and started the car. The oil pressure light went out immediately!
Well...at least this whole fiasco made me paranoid enough to change the oil pump o-ring and crank seal, which I've been procrastinating for a long time. The black bits in the oil shall be ignored for now. RJ is probably right that they are shaved off rubber bits from the timing/balance chain tensioners (I hope so!).
Good night everyone.
