The Harmon Kardon system uses a pair of 2-way component speakers for the front, and a pair of midrange and a pair of 2-way speakers for the rear. The rear speakers are bi-amped, meaning the subwoofers have separate amplifier channels from the midrange and tweeter channels. This accounts for the 10 speakers (4 from front and 6 from rear) and 6 channels.
The factory front speakers are component speakers that are quite good. The rear are combination hybrids. The only amplifier that fits the current plug is the base amplifier with 4 channels, 40W each, loosing the subwoofer channels.
It is probably ok to drive these speakers up to 40W each like the base amplifier, but not much more. I think your main problem will be rewiring the amplifier plug if you go after market. I have the amplifier pin-out if needed.
