This is so easy to track yourself that general theories of which type is better are worse than useless, because they could be misleading. Run a few trials using your personal car, in your geographic location, with your weather, with your driving style and patterns, and your typical destinations. Run 4-5 tanks of one, then 4-5 of the other, and compare the mpg, and compare the "seat of the pants" dyno factor. Supposedly 93 has better/more detergents in it, which seems true in my experience, so factor that in as a long term consideration. Compute cost per mile driven, not per gallon, to account for mpg differences.
I've always noticed both better mpg and better performance w/ 93 octane in every car I've had in the last 15 years. So much better mpg, that it more than compensated for the higher cost of the fuel. YMMV, literally!
