I assume you have a Direct Ignition car (the reference to 'coil pack').
The knock sensor won't keep you from having spark. Yes, a bad crank sensor will. When you crank the car, does the tachometer move? If not, I'd zero in on the crank sensor.
You may also have a bad DI cassette. They do fail. As a note, when testing it, you must put spark plugs into ALL the coils and ground them all. Firing any of the DI coils without a grounded plug in it can damage it.
If the tach doesn't bounce on cranking, I'd assume a bad DI.
