It's never easy ....

I went to change out the tie rod end and ball joint on the pass. side tonight, having done the driver's side a couple of months ago, to try to solve a vibration problem (new tires, rebalance of new tires helped but it's still there, and they are 185k mile originals). After much fussing and fighting I finally remembered how I got the ball joint pinch bolt free on the other side - a 5-foot cheater bar of PVC pipe over the breaker bar handle. Unfortunately, I found that the threads on that bolt got screwed by my pounding on the end to try to get it out. My fault, but now I'm going to be late to work tomorrow after I go to the dealer for a new bolt & nut.
The tie rod end was also a pain, which I still haven't solved. The jam nut on the other side came free easily, but it's stuck good on this side, and I don't yet have the proper 22mm open-end wrench to properly handle it. I'll get the correct wrench tomorrow, but, as I said, it's never easy.
The headlight wiper isn't working right on the pass side so I went to pull it so I could fix it in my free time (like I have any free time). One of the captive nuts on the headlight is spinning freely and I can't get anything on it to hold it so that I can remove one of the mount bolts and get to the wiper motor, so the lonely shaft sits there, and the wiper arm sits on the shelf in the garage.
Oh well, I'll get it taken care of and the car will finally be fun to drive fast. Autocross season starts in about a month :-)
