My independent mechanic has told me that the engine can move 1-2 inches back and forth, which is acceptable re condition of the engine mount bushings (the bushings on my 1994 9000 Aero (68,000 miles) also show tears). Once the movement reaches about 3 inches it is then time to consider replacing these bushings.
