I have a 93 9000 CS, the brake lights were sticking in the 'on' position. Mechanic adjusted several times and failure reoccurred. Now lights are stuck on. Removed switch and took apart. Could find no problems, spring, motion and contacts OK. Replaced and still did not work. Manually tried switch out of holder and lights stay on. Pulled connection off of switch, lights still on. I'm not sure how the switch works - electrically - does it open or close circuit to activate. Could this be the switch or something (I don't know what) else.
