Speedometer died and car stalls - related?

My 1994 9000 Aero has two problems - the first is the speedometer died today along with the odometer and the little light that tells me to shift, the second is that the car is now dying or stalling when I come up to a stop light or to turn (it is really exciting when it I am turning since the steering wheel locks up). Do I need a new speedometer drive? And could this be related to the stalling problem - it seems highly unusual they would both be starting at the same time and I know the speedometer drive provides input to the ECU. If it isn't related, then any suggestions on why the car is stalling - the battery seems to be fine - there is no drop in voltage. Anyway, you get the idea. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
