I had the A/C compressor replaced a couple days ago. The old Sanden 709 was replaced with a new 7H15 intended for -93 onward 9k. The system was filled with a refrigerent R413A by a reputable Bosch Service Centre. The service shop puts this in all R12 systems and fills to 80-90% of the R12 amount. They said the quarantee for the compressor is valid with this gas (in Austria).

First weirdness is: the new unit only has a low side service port, no way to measure high side pressures now. On the newer saab the port is on the connector. The mechanic told me it's common with new cars not to have a high side port.

Second question is: the mechanic didn't have a receiver drier in stock so he asked to come back in a month to have it replaced and have the gas amount adjusted for better performance if necessary. The system was in vaccum for 1,5 hrs. It works pretty well considering it's currently 80% filled and I'm wondering if replacing the receiver drier makes any difference anymore. Expansion valve doesn't freeze up.
