Usually, the front end of the car that does the hitting fares much worse. A guy whacked my 900 from behind (years ago) with his brand new Hyundai ... no more than a scratch for mine, destroyed the front end of his. Recently I was riding in a Camry that got bumped from behind by a Taurus ... slight scratch on the Camry's bumper, destroyed the front end of the Taurus. Looks like the front end of a Saab doesn't crumple until it has to (as opposed to most cars, which crumple if they hit a marshmellow).
